Gone are the days of quickly dumping all of the clothes in the laundry and getting a load done in under a hour. Now, on top of dividing clothes into colors, I am dividing by texture (thank you @funcheaporfree for the recommendation), baby vs. parent, and dirty vs VERY DIRTY! I am always impressed at the level of mess two little tiny hands can make during a meal time. We love the baby led weaning process and it certainly lives up to its reputation of being a tad messy. However, with all the meal time messes, I am left with stained clothing. I learned very quickly that simply sticking clothes in the washer with berries and foods leaves permanent stains.
I was left with the need to research a stain remover fast! Yes, I had SHOUT in my laundry room and I know it works magic, but I wanted to find a non-toxic solution to continue with my year of simplicity especially in the number of toxins and chemicals that are in our house. The answer was surprisingly easy since I had already been using the thieves household cleaner and other products from the Young Living Household line. I researched a few stain remover DIY blends and I found my new favorite partner in crime.
The recipe is simple; Thieves household cleaner and Thieves laundry detergent from Young Living. The Thieves products are a blend of essential oils including clove, lemon, cinnamon, rosemary, eucalyptus. All of these oils on their own have cleaning abilities but when combined they must have super powers. I am completly impressed with the quality of how clean my clothes were after washing with this mix. The other great part is the highly concentrated products will last forever! I am using about a spray bottles worth of cleaner each week because this baby is messy an explorer, so it is important I have a cleaning tool that is cost effective and will last me a while. Most importantly, I love the fact that these products are multi-purpose, especially the all-purpose cleaner. I use this cleaner to make my homemade surface wipes, hand soap, sink and bathroom scrub, and now stain remover!
All you need to make this stain remover is one cap of the HIGHLY concentrated Thieves all-purpose cleaner and one cap of the Thieves laundry! I have had the same all-purpose cleaner bottle for over 6 months and I truly use this product everywhere!
So fresh and clean! This really isn’t even as bad as it gets. Our new routine is eat, take clothes off and immediately spray with cleaner. If I leave food on the onsie, I run the risk of the food drying, making it hard to clean off- but not impossible! The onesie above had old food stains and I think the after picture is almost perfectly clean. However I am most impressed with the onsies below! That hot pink (who in the world knows) made me very nervous, but sure enough it came out crystal clean!
One final tip that I would recommend, is wash your baby clothes on the cold setting as warm or hot water could make the stains set in more. I also dry the baby clothes on a lower heat- again to avoid stains from sticking around. Typically, once a stain has been through the dryer, it is there for good.
I hope you are as impressed as I am with these products. I was a skeptic until it work, and then worked again! If you’d love to add this non-toxic product to you home routine- click here. There is a perfect Thieves bundle with Young Living. You would be set for years to come with all the goodies in the bundle!
I want to hear from you- have you ever used any of the thieves products? How has thieves helped you and your family?
