Tasty Margaritas – Healthy, Quick, & Easy Recipes

How is it May already and time to celebrate Cinco de Mayo? Every year in honor of the holiday we love to hit up our local favorite Mexican restaurant for festive food and margaritas. I feel that once we celebrate Cinco de Mayo, margaritas become my go to drink at home and out on the town. To prepare for the summer and holiday, I am sharing two of my go to drinks, classic and grapefruit margaritas. These recipes are easy, quick, and healthy and a perfect balance of sweet and tart. Try them out and let me know how it tastes. Comment below with your favorite margaritas and how you plan to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.

GRAPEFRUIT MARGARITA

This grapefruit margarita actually tastes so good it feels wrong to say it is ‘light’ drink. But with 4 grapefruits freshly squeezed it really is a healthy drink option. No regrets if you reach for a second drink!

1 oz Tequila (I recommend 1800 but any gold tequila will do)

1 oz Triple Sec (I recommend Dekuyper, not pictured)

1 oz lime juice (best if fresh, but I always have rose’s sweetened lime juice on hand)

4 freshly squeezed grapefruits (extra health points if you eat the leftover fruit)

salt for rim of glass

This recipe makes two 12oz drinks. Remember a shot is 1oz, so use your favorite shot glass to simplify the pouring. Cut grapefruits in half and squeeze juice into a small measuring cup. Pour all ingredients into your drink shaker filled with ice and shake until the shaker has frosted on the outside. Dip rim of margarita glass in water and dip in a bowl of salt. Pour drink over ice in the margarita glass. If you are sharing with guests, garnish with a slice of grapefruit. Enjoy!

This classic margarita is served best on the rocks. We try not to mess with a good thing and this margarita is tastyyyyy and simple!

1 oz Tequila (I recommend 1800 but any gold tequila will do)

1 oz lime juice (best if fresh, but I always have rose’s sweetened lime juice on hand)

salt for rim of glass

Simply pour all ingredients into your drink shaker filled with ice and shake until the shaker has frosted on the outside. Dip rim of glass in water and then dip in a bowl of salt. Pour drink over ice in the margarita glass. Enjoy!
